"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" tells the biblical story of Joseph, a young man who can interpret dreams.
Entirely sung-through, the eclectic music and energetic dances have captivated audiences for decades. Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Lyrics by Tim Rice Audition information as follows: EVERYONE: Auditions will be at the BDACT Theatre, 219 North Spring St. If you are unavailable for the scheduled auditions, you may submit a video audition to director Ryan Todd Madala-Klug, and it will be viewed by the Production Team prior to casting the show. Please include scales showing upper and lower range. CHILDREN, AGES 8-13 Saturday, May 11 or Saturday May 18, 2pm - 4pm Wear comfortable clothes. Children will sing "happy birthday" or something familiar. If you want to prepare a song, it cannot be longer than 32 measures in length. We will do some basic movement and there will be a short improv audition. At least one parent/guardian MUST attend. There will be a lot of information given at auditions, and before we cast any children we must speak to guardians about the commitment. EVERYONE ELSE, AGES 14+ Monday or Tuesday, May 20 & 21, 6:30 - 10:00 Prepare an uptempo song, not from the show, not to exceed 32 measures in length. An accompanist and cd player with "audio in" will be provided, for those of you with karaoke tracks on cd or iPod. A Cappella auditions not recommended. We will test your range. Please bring clothes to dance in, as you will be taught a physical dance combination. You will be given time to change into dance clothes if needed. There will be no reading for this audition, as the show is sung-through. ADULT CALLBACKS Those called back will be given music at auditions to prepare for callbacks, which will happen on May 22nd and (if necessary) May 23rd. There will not be any dance requirements for callbacks. REHEARSALS Regular rehearsals will begin Monday, June 3rd, and thereafter will be Sunday through Thursdays for June and the majority of July. The final two weeks of July will be almost every day. Rehearsal times will be 6:30 - 8:30 on Sundays, and 6:30 - 9:30 (but possibly until 10, as scheduling demands) Monday through Thursdays. Children will rehearse from 6:30 - 8, two nights a week until July, and then it will become more frequent, getting later and later as we progress towards the production. No one will ever rehearse later than 10pm, even during dress week. PERFORMANCES The show runs from July 26th through August 4. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Children are more than welcome to be in tell-a-tale and our production, but if a show must be dropped, it MUST be Joseph, as children will be chorus in Joseph, and have a role in Tell-a-tale. I take pride in never wasting people's time, and finding a place for people to share their talents. If you have an extensive vacation, or need to work to pay for school and/or life, but just want to be a part of the show, be up front about conflicts, and we may be able to work around your conflicts and get you involved for a few songs. This would lessen the time involved for you, but bolster our cast size and strength. QUESTIONS?
